August: Getting Back to Basics and Celebrating Achievements

Reflecting on July's Family Time and Achievements

July was a whirlwind of family time, summer adventures, and making memories. Our days were filled with summer camps, boating at the family lake house, and adjusting to the relaxed routines that come with the season. These moments were precious, and staying on track with nutrition and exercise was a balancing act. My 36th birthday was a highlight, giving me a moment to reflect on my journey as a fat loss coach and the impact I’m making on my family and clients. Speaking of family, my 14-year-old son achieved an incredible milestone by riding his bike 100 miles in just 6 hours and 33 minutes. Talk about ambitious goals!

Celebrating 100 miles!

Embracing Challenges: Fit Wars and the 5K

July also saw the continuation of the Fit Wars challenge, and I'm thrilled to share that my third attempt clocked in at 18 minutes and 37 seconds. The challenge was a test of discipline and determination, breaking down each workout into manageable sets and pushing through the doubts. This month, we’re gearing up for the upcoming 5K. As someone who isn’t a fan of running, preparing for this event has been about gradual progress and embracing the journey. The excitement and nervousness are real, but so is the commitment to crossing that finish line.

Goals vs. Standards: Finding Accountability

Recently, I read an intriguing post about the concept of goals versus standards. While I liked the idea, I’m unsure how to hold myself accountable without a clear aim. Goals give us direction, but standards set the bar for our daily actions. What do you all think? How do you balance setting ambitious goals while maintaining daily standards?

Back to Basics in August

As we move into August, it’s time to get back to basics. The end of summer brings a return to more structured routines, and this is the perfect opportunity to reset and refocus. Here are my key focus areas for August:

  1. Early Morning Workouts: With the school year starting, getting back on schedule with early morning workouts is crucial. These sessions set a positive tone for the day and ensure that fitness remains a priority.

  2. Meal Prep for Quick Dinners: Sports nights can be hectic, so planning and prepping meals in advance will help us stay on track with our nutrition. Simple, high-protein dinners that can be quickly assembled will be a lifesaver.

Celebrating July's Goals and Looking Forward

Reflecting on July, the goals we set were ambitious, and the accomplishments were significant. From family time to fitness milestones, the month was filled with growth and celebration. Moving forward, the focus is on simplifying and getting back to the foundational habits that support our health and well-being.

Personal Reflections

This journey isn’t just about fitness and nutrition; it’s about finding balance, celebrating small victories, and continuously striving for improvement. My son’s incredible bike ride, the Fit Wars challenge, and the upcoming 5K all remind me that setting and achieving goals, no matter how big or small, is a vital part of our journey.

As we embrace August, let’s take a moment to appreciate our progress, set clear goals, and establish standards that keep us accountable. Here’s to a month of getting back to basics and preparing for the exciting challenges ahead.
