Why Walking Changed My Life—and How It Can Change Yours Too

In 2015, my journey with walking began when my dog faced some health challenges. Her vet recommended daily walks to ease her anxiety, and soon enough, those walks became a staple in our routine. Not only did it help her, but I started noticing changes in myself too. After my last pregnancy, I struggled with sciatica. Surprisingly, with every step I took, my pain eased, and over time, my sciatica disappeared. Paired with some dietary changes, I found myself shedding pounds and gaining energy. Walking became a true lifesaver for both my body and mind.

As my kids grew, we ventured out to discover Vermont’s beautiful hiking trails. Hiking became our family’s favorite way to stay active and explore nature. From gentle strolls to challenging hikes, we found joy in every step and every view.

Now, years later, I find myself in a unique stage of life. Some of my friends are new moms, while others are sending their kids off to college or even welcoming grandchildren. Like many women, I’ve struggled with time management and often put myself last. The past few years have brought so many changes that even my beloved daily walks took a backseat. But now, it’s time to bring them back.

I’m thrilled to introduce the MINTFit Moms Walking Group—a local women’s walking community for those looking to get outside, move, and connect. Whether you’re a busy mom, a pet mom, a plant mom, or just someone who wants to step outside and prioritize self-care, this group is for you. We’ll meet once or twice a week to walk, chat, and explore Vermont’s best local trails. It’s an hour out of the house, filled with fresh air, movement, and friendship.

And there’s more—I’m already dreaming up fun events like “Snowshoes & Brews”, partnering with a local brewery for a snowshoeing adventure followed by some craft beer. I can’t wait to see where these walks take us—not just physically, but in building connections and discovering new joys together.

This isn’t just about exercise; it’s about finding time for yourself, embracing nature, and meeting new friends. Walking has done wonders for my physical and mental health, and I want to share that with you.

Most importantly, this group is also a great way to learn more about MINTFit! Through these walks, you’ll get a taste of what MINTFit is all about—prioritizing health in a realistic and sustainable way, even in the busiest of seasons. Whether it’s whole-food nutrition, balanced movement, or creating a lifestyle that works for YOU, MINTFit is here to help. If you’ve been curious about MINTFit and what it can do for you, this is the perfect opportunity to start small and build momentum!
